Double the Dads, Double the Father's Day Gifts Pressure! 

Father’s Day is a big deal in our house - probably like it is for many families, but for us, it's extra special. The reason we buy into it so much in our house is we are two dads and are still in our first few years of taking care of our children. Plus, two dads are double the celebration when it comes to Father’s Day, right! 

It's all still relatively new for us, so any gifting or occasion spent for Father's Day is likely a first and hugely appreciated. But even in its infancy it is hard to get something unique and memorable, and when it comes to buying for my own dad, well I have been doing that for decades and how he must of grown weary over the years of feigning appreciation for tired socks and familiar fragrances. 

Father's Day Gifts

At the moment, our kids are relatively young so don’t have to burden themselves too much with worrying for Father’s Day gifts inspiration like I do. We do all the worrying for them. That being said, they are golden and always set aside pocket money to buy their own card and maybe even some chocolates and soft toy. How my heart melted last year with our hand crafted cards they had taken the time to make from scratch.  

Back to the here and now, Father’s Day is around the corner, and I resume my annual search for what meaningful fathers days gifts I can get my dad, as well as guide the kids on what Father’s Day gifts a son might look to buy. It is certainly true to say that my gifting methods have altered over time, gravitating more toward experience based products as opposed to the ‘tried and tested’.  

Don't aim too high!!

Last year, I feel our gifting efforts really landed, as we had got my dad a fabulous experience involving a Wine Tasting. Needless to say this really hit the spot but I guess I have now put pressure on myself to beat that this year. Top Tip! Don’t set the bench mark too high! Given I have, my search is on to beat last years efforts but the problem I am having is everything that I find, I want to subtly hint that I might want for myself! Maybe the kids can be me the same as I buy for my dad and we can enjoy something together, now there’s a thought! A dad and granddads day out!  

Here I have taken a snapshot of some unique gifting ideas for dads and granddads out there to enjoy, and in the spirit of whether its more suited to this dad, or my dad, I have given them each a rating! 

Supercar Driving Experience 
I can already picture my dad and I channelling our inner speedsters, tearing up the track in a Lamborghini, Ferrari or Aston Martin. Dad can choose to drive 3 or 6 miles around the track in his dream car. No driving licence is required for certain cars, making it accessible for many enthusiasts. 

Charcuterie Course & Golf Experience with Tasting Lunch 
Combine culinary skills with leisure in this half-day charcuterie course, where Dad can learn to craft delicious cured meats. The experience includes coffee, canapés, and lunch, followed by 9 or 18 holes of golf. Let’s be real - this dad would be all about the charcuterie, while my dad perfects his swing on the golf course! 

Tactical Helicopter Flying Lesson 
For the dad who's always dreamed of piloting a helicopter, this experience includes three flights: two observation and one hands-on. It's approximately 45 minutes long, with 18 minutes of actual flying time, and counts towards a pilot's licence. We’re probably not cut out to be pilots, but we would both love the experience!  

Football Stadium Helicopter Tour 
For the football fanatic, this helicopter tour offers aerial views of up to three iconic stadiums, such as Liverpool’s Anfield and Manchester's Old Trafford. It's a unique way to experience the grandeur of his favourite teams' homes. Both my dad and I are football fans, but supporting opposing teams as we do might be problematic!
