Up At The O2 With My 9 Year Old Son!
London is packed with unique experiences, but few compare to scaling one of its most recognisable landmarks. Up at The O2 offers an urban mountaineering adventure that combine...
I asked my material driven 12 year old girl which experience she thought would make great gifts for teenage girls considering she’s about to turn 13, and the list she gave me surprised me quite a bit!
The top of her list was the junior supercar driving experience. My daughter is an uncontrollable speed freak. I say uncontrollable as she’s the girl that when let loose on a go kart track, will be hitting the tyres, taking the marshals out and anyone else that dares get in her way!
This driving experience would then be perfect for her as not only is she governed by a professional who’s sat in the car the whole time, but she’s got the chance to take the car as fast as she can (which considering she hasn’t driven a supercar before would hopefully be not too fast!!)
She did request that the car could be pink but even we can’t fulfil that dream!
So that request didn’t surprise me that much considering her track record for being a speed freak. The next idea for gifts for teenage girls was aqua sphereing which did take me back!
She watched a video of someone doing this on TikTok and thought it looked hilarious!
Her and up to 2 friends get into a huge ball, are strapped in with a full body harness then let go down a hill at up to speeds of 30mph!
But that’s not all, what fascinated my daughter the most (because being in a giant hamster wheel isn’t enough to satisfy teenagers these days!) was the fact that you get covered in approximately 50 litres of water as you roll!
A visit to the capital is a must for any teenage girl, not least because they have Sephora there!! But, even though we have been a few times, another great gift for teenage girls is a visit to The Shard in London.
The best thing about this experience that she’s chosen is the fact you can combine it with a few options. Firstly, for a great day trip, you can visit the Shard and then once you’ve seen the whole city from the sky, go and fill your boots with delicious food at the famous Marco Pierre White’s London Steakhouse.
Or, another option is to make a weekend of it. How often does your teenage daughter get chance to go to London for a weekend break! Still visiting The Shard, you can then choose a 3 or 4 star hotel to relax in once you have enjoyed Marco Pierre White’s, which is also included in this great deal!
The biggest thing in any teenagers life is the chance to take on an escape room! And with so many options, the possibilities are endless!
From Sherlock Holmes ones, rage rooms, prison escapes or zombie survival immersive experiences, there really is an escape room to suit any miserable teenager!
The rage room is particularly relevant as what teenager doesn’t want to come into a room and legitimately smash the place up! They can unleash their pent-up emotions by smashing a variety of objects, ranging from plates and cups to electronics and furniture. On this experience you can smash 16 pieces of crockery, 22 glassware items and 7 medium-sized items.
If this blog was listed in importance order, this experience would definitely make it to the top! What teenage girl doesn’t want a spa with a facial experience!
Q Hotels offer you the chance to have a 25 Elemis treatments including an express facial and a neck and scalp massage. Perfect for your girl to release all the tensions of teenage life!
A makeup tutorial is probably more of a gift that the parents would choose instead of the girls themselves as now these young adults are experiencing the world, they are trying out new things. And that means playing with make up…but the less is more approach doesn’t seem to feature for these girls!
By giving gifts for teenage girls that teach them something at the same time as them receiving a gift, means that we are helping them negotiate the tricky world of foundation, mascara etc!
Being a water baby means that my girl loves anything water related so a learn to surf day out is the best birthday gift for her!
Located in Bristol, you can spend 1.5 hours either perfecting your surfing skills or learning the sport from scratch!
Sticking to the water theme, learning to scuba dive has got to be one of the best gifts a teenager can have! What a skill to have, so if you decide to take a gap year, you can dive anywhere in the world knowing that you have the skills and safety requirements to do it effectively.
Set in London in a heated swimming pool, you complete a 20 minute safety briefing before discovering how to breathe underwater and the sensation of weightlessness as you glide through the water.
A craze that still doesn’t look like its going to go away anytime soon is bubble tea! But, instead of forking out lots of money for these sweet drinks, why not see how the magic happens with a bubble tea making experience!
The girls get to taste 15 different boba, jellies, tapiocas and teas with over 50 drinks choices and 15 plus toppings! What’s not to love!
Set in London, after the experience which lasts approximately 1.5 hours, you have the chance to go sightseeing in London! The perfect end to the perfect day we say!
One for the animal lovers, this cow cuddling experience has it all; cuteness, outside in the fresh air and unique…everything you need when looking for gifts for teenage girls!
Set in Shropshire, you can get close to Dexter cows, the smallest cows in Europe! After a safety briefing you have 45 minutes to pet and feed the mini moo’s and generally hang out with them, finding out all about their gentle character and just all round loveliness!!
If animals are what your daughter loves, then why not head to the sheep trekking experience once you’ve met the cows!
Set on the same farm, you and up to 6 people, can be in charge of the sheep and take them for a walk. You can even feed the sheep and take photos with them.
This is a really unusual gift for a teenager and one we guarantee she won’t have be given before, so no worries about having to regift this beauty!
Also, this day out, plus all the others mentioned before, are a chance to steer your daughter away from the daily pressures to have more material items in order to validate their worth.
Give them a gift of an experience day and give them the chance to do something new which doesn’t hold any weight on how they look or how they perform, its just the chance to do something fun with the people they love the most!
