 What were your first impressions of the venue and its ambiance? 

When we first arrived at the venue, we were pleasantly surprised by how different it was from what we had imagined. Based on the descriptions and the nature of the experience, we had expected a large, perhaps somewhat corporate space. Instead, what we found was a much smaller, more intimate venue that immediately set the tone for the evening. The ambiance was genuinely charming, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made us feel at ease right away. The careful attention to detail in the decor, the soft lighting, and the thoughtful arrangement of the seating all contributed to creating a cozy and inviting environment.  

How would you rate the quality and authenticity of the Italian food and wine? 

We were very impressed with the quality and authenticity of the Italian food and wine on offer. Being big fans of both wine and Italian cuisine, we had high expectations - and they were exceeded! The selection was clearly thought out well, showcasing a delightful range of authentic Italian dishes and regional specialties that truly transported us to Italy. 

The wine selection was equally outstanding. It featured a variety of Italian wines, including some well-known favourites and a few we hadn't tried before, which made the experience even more exciting. It was a pleasure to explore different styles and learn about the unique characteristics of the regions they came from. Whether it was a crisp white, a bold red, or even a dessert wine, every wine complemented the food beautifully. 

Was there a host guiding the tasting? If so, how knowledgeable and engaging were they? 

Yes, there was a dedicated personal host assigned to guide our tasting experience, and we were thoroughly impressed by the level of attention and care they provided. It was clear from the outset that this wasn’t just a generic, one-size-fits-all experience. Each table had its own host, ensuring that the experience was intimate rather than rushed or impersonal. This thoughtful arrangement really set the tone for the evening, allowing us to relax and focus on enjoying the food and wine. 

Our host was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also highly engaging. They had an impressive depth of understanding about both the wines and the dishes, sharing interesting insights about each selection. Our host made it easy to understand the subtleties of why certain wines work so well with flavours and textures. 

How would you describe the experience? 

We went into the evening expecting a group-style activity, where everyone might sit together or participate in a communal tasting session. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find that it was actually a much more personal and intimate experience than we had imagined. Instead of a large group setting, each table had its own dedicated host who provided individualised attention throughout the evening.  

The personal hosting was, without a doubt, one of the standout highlights of the evening. Having a knowledgeable host at our table, guiding us through the food and wine pairings and sharing insights specific to our preferences, created a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. 

Did the portions and variety meet your expectations? 

The portions and variety absolutely exceeded our expectations. When we arrived, we were anticipating just a few small nibbles to accompany the wine tasting, but what we received was far more impressive. A huge sharing platter was brought to our table, overflowing with a delightful assortment of cheeses, cured meats, olives, dips, and fresh bread. It truly felt like the ultimate grazing board - beautifully presented and packed with authentic Italian flavours. The variety ensured there was something for every palate, and it was the perfect accompaniment to the wines we sampled throughout the evening. 

Would you recommend to others? 

Absolutely! Even if you're not a wine enthusiast or particularly passionate about Italian cuisine, this experience stands out as an exceptional evening out. As an event, it's designed to be thoroughly enjoyable for anyone, making it a perfect choice for a memorable night filled with great food, wine and atmosphere.
