With Christmas looming upon us, why not enjoy a wonderful day out seeing one of your favourite Disney shows in the West End followed by a 1 or 2 night stay in either a 3 or 4 star hotel in London.
Whether it’s a day out with a friend or a loved one, then this really is sure to get you into the Christmas spirit. Or why not have something to look forward to in the New Year?
Having been to see The Lion King myself, I can’t emphasise enough how truly magical this show is and all the amazing production that’s been put into making this a spectacular ‘must see’! Personally, I actually enjoyed the show more than the film. The way in which they carefully convey all of your favourite characters from Simba to Naya, Mufasa & Scar to Timone & Pumba with talented actors, props and costumes is out of this world and just…well…genius!
Straight away I felt submerged in all the colours and wonder of that first iconic scene in the Pride Lands when Simba is born and the song ‘Circle of Life’ was boomed all around the theatre!
That scene is truly emotion inducing with the stage being filled with an array of actors depicting all the animals of the gathering together to celebrate the newly born King to Be, Simba. Think plenty of dancing, wild acrobatics and beautiful and atmospheric lighting. It really was an amazing feeling to sing along, clap and get in the Lion King spirit!
The way in which the stage is cleverly crafted to seamlessly move from one scene to another was incredibly impressive and mindblowing!
For me, my favourite scene both in the film and in the theatre is when Simba looks at the stars and talks to his Father, Mufasa, and the way in which they orchestrate this emotional scene on stage is simply magical (I won’t give it away!).
Throughout the show, I really was in awe of all the vibrancy, lighting and choreography and I reveled in the walk down nostalgia lane singing the likes of ‘Hakuna Matata!’ and ‘Can you feel the love tonight?’
During the interval it was nice to enjoy a glass of champers (when in London ha ha!) and I just couldn’t wait to get back for the second half.
You certainly won’t feel bored during this action packed and entertaining show which is sure to make you laugh, cry and laugh some more!
It really took me back to my childhood and those dramatic moments, one being with Scar and Mufasa and that gut wrenching Wildebeest scene to when Simba confronts Scar about what happened to his Father, Mufasa. I cannot stress enough how talented the actors and production team are in making this all come to life on the West End Stage! It certainly beats sitting at home and watching it on the TV!
Even though you have the choice to do the 2.30pm or 7.30pm showing, my personal preference is the afternoon matinee show as it was nice going for a meal at a nearby restaurant afterwards (you will be spoiled for choice in the big city) and recalling the events of the past 2 and a half hours with my loved ones over a glass of wine before heading back home. I would 100% go back and see it all again!
The Lyceum Theatre is located at the heart of London’s West End in Covent Garden and has seen an array of spectacular shows for over 200 years. It has been home to The Lion King for many recent years since 1999 and is a beautiful Grade II listed building steeped in history and grandeur. You will feel like royalty as soon as you step through their doors. All of the staff at The Lyceum are attentive and want to make sure you have a memorable experience!
Here at Wonderdays , we offer a voucher for 2 x theatre tickets in the Grand Circle or similar for this show PLUS a 1 or 2 night stay in a 3* or 4* star hotel from ONLY £299.
A real weekend treat in the city which I personally feel is great value and will create wonderful memories to last a lifetime.
