Afternoon tea in Shropshire is always going to be a winner as not only do you have the beauty of the county to discover, you also have a traditional afternoon tea to enjoy too! Set in Wellington, you are a stones throw away from the beautiful sites of Ironbridge, Shrewsbury and Telford Town Shopping Centre if you want some retail therapy.

Once at the café you get a selection of sandwiches, the best ever homemade sausage rolls, scones and cakes with unlimited tea and coffee.

Something for Animals Lovers 

Hoo Zoo

You can obviously expect to find animals all over Shropshire thanks to the rolling hills and farms, but did you know you can see meerkats, lemurs and snakes but to name a few! One of the most popular things to do in Shropshire according to Trip Advisor, this great day out is a must for the animal lovers. 

You have the option of meeting meerkats, hanging out with some carnivores, learn how to be a zoo keeper, or just go with young children away from the hustle of school holidays!

Short Break in Ironbridge

Top of the list for things to do in Shropshire is a visit to the famous Ironbridge. Constructed in 1777, the iconic bridge is one of the main landmarks of Shropshire and sits in the middle of the town of Ironbridge, filled with cute cafes, pubs and independent shops.

There’s also a gorgeous Georgian listed country house which can be found if you're looking for hotels in Telford, on the banks of the River Severn ready to welcome overnight visitors. Perfect for exploring Ironbridge, breakfast is also included so you’ll be set for a day filled with tourist attractions and shopping!

Glamping Experience

If you fancy being a bit more off grid, then a glamping experience in Shropshire is just for you!

Set in Whitchurch, you can unwind in this peaceful rural retreat where you can stay in Landpods which are raised on legs to gently tread upon the land, leaving minimal impact. 

With a campfire and a hot tub, it’s the perfect setting to relax and watch the sunrise!

Shrewsbury Prison

A great thing to do in Shropshire that encourages you to put yourself in the shoes of a very different life, is a prison tour. You can imagine what the life of a convict is really like by staying overnight in the prison!

Or, if you prefer your own bed, you have the option to an escape room at the prison or a guided tour of the prison, finding out about the prison’s incredible history from knowledgeable tour guides.

Quad Biking

One for the adrenaline lovers, Shropshire is filled with places where you can see nature at it’s best, right in the middle of mud and water; quad biking in Shropshire!

Set across a terrain perfect for quad biking, this adventure will leave you smiling from ear to ear! You start on a beginner’s circuit so you can get used to the quads, then once your confidence is built, off you go around tracks, fields and woodland on quad bikes, behind an instructor.

Perfect for ages 8 and above, this experience is one that is even better when it’s rained as going though a huge puddle on a quad is great fun! And if you don’t get stuck in the mud, then you haven’t tried hard enough!

Raft Tours

Another great outdoor adventure, is a raft tour on the River Severn. Based in Bridgnorth, you get to paddle down the Severn for 7 miles, over 4 hours, on a mini raft. Suitable for up to 5 people, it’s the perfect way to see the Shropshire countryside from the best vantage point!

A River Cruise

If having to paddle down the River Severn seems like hard work, then the next best option is to get someone to sail you down! A river cruise in Shrewsbury is the best way to enjoy the surroundings and relax!

Sat outside or inside, you get to enjoy the views for 45 minutes, whilst a local guide points out places of interest such as Shrewsbury School and the English Bridge. There’s also a bar where you can purchase drinks and snacks.

SAS Boot Camp

A Special Forces Boot Camp in Shropshire takes having something to do in the county to a whole new level! Led by a former Special Forces Directing Staff, you can gain hands on training in survival techniques, weapon handling and emergency procedures!

With the option of camping in the hills of Oswestry once the experience is done, you can fully immerse yourself in the world of the SAS!

For those that like to be creative, Shropshire has the answer. You can head over to a working bakery in Oswestry to learn how to make croissants, sourdough or pastry!

In this baking masterclass with Adam Cleal, a semi finalist in Bake Off: The Professionals, you will be taught the best way to make beautiful patisseries with expert tuition and guidance. You even get to take them home to share with your adoring fans; your family!

Make Gin

If you fancy a drink with your croissant, then the chance to learn how to make gin will be perfect for you. Set in a Shropshire distillery, you will craft your own gin from a selection of 60 botanicals!

You can also discover how the distillery works and learn secrets of making gin, before you take home a 700ml bottle of gin you created!
