The Main Event

This helicopter flight experience is part lesson, part sightseeing tour and is a fantastic experience for anyone with an interest in aviation.

It is a private flight (so no sharing with strangers) in a Robinson R44 helicopter and is for a group of up to 3 passengers (with everyone getting a window seat).

You'll be introduced to the world of helicopter flying, with its aviation acronyms (ATC, ATZ, CTA, CTR) and find out how pilots navigate the busy Redhill Aerodrome in Surrey. You'll be talking like a pilot in no time!

During this Pathfinder flight, you'll learn about Visual Reporting Points, or VPRS for short. These are used by pilots to visually pinpoint the designated entry and exit paths into the aerodrome. There are many to look out for such as the Buckland Reservoir, the M23/M25 interchange, Godstone village and South Godstone Railway Station.

Wanna-be helicopter pilots will love learning about how you communicate with Air Traffic Control and navigate in the air.

Helicopter Flight Itinerary

Depart from Redhill Aerodrome for a 15 minute flight passing the following Visual Reporting Points (VRPS):

Buckland Park Lake - 50 acre lake in the Buckland Lake Reserve
Dorking - Historic market town in the Surrey Hills
Godstone - Historic village east of Reigate
Oxted - Town in the Tandridge district of Surrey at the foot of the North Downs
Return to Redhill - The final VRP before heading back to Redhill Aerodrome

Important to Note

All aircraft are subject to weight & balance limitations, both for individual passenger weights and the combined weight of all passengers flying.
The individual seat limit for tours (R44) is 136kg (21 stone), however if anyone in your group is above 95kg (15st) you will need to contact the experience provider to confirm that the aircraft weight and balance limitations are not exceeded.

When

This experience is subject to availability and flights normally operate on a daily basis between the hours of 10am and 4pm.

Flights are subject to suitable weather conditions. In the event of unsuitable weather, you will be offered an alternative date by the experience provider.

It is recommended to book at least 2 weeks in advance for a better chance of getting the date you want.

Validity

Your voucher is valid for 12 Months from the date of issue.

Please note you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date.

Who Can Go

Minimum age is 6 years old.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Due to comfort and weight / balance of the aircraft, passengers weighing over 15 Stone (95 Kg) should contact the carrier before booking.
All passengers must have photographic ID with them for the day of the flight.
Flights are weight critical and all passenger weights must be provided when booking your flight date.
Due to the nature of this tour and the safety of all guests, the tour operator reserves the right to refuse service to passengers who are intoxicated or show signs of intoxication. If, as a result, your tour is cancelled, you will not be entitled to a refund.
There are certain health restrictions which may prevent you from flying, these include; Limited Mobility, Epilepsy, Heart Conditions & Pregnancy. If you have concerns that you may not be able to fly we would suggested seeking advice from your Doctor.
The experience provider reserves the right to refuse any passenger boarding the aircraft in the following circumstances: late arrival to terminal, failure to provide photo ID when required, when intoxicated, when displaying threatening or abusive behaviour towards staff and /or other passengers, any behaviour that may compromise passenger and/or pilot safety on-board the aircraft.
If you are refused access to the flight, you will not be entitled to a refund.
The Captain of the aircraft is in command and his/her instructions should be obeyed at all times. Any interference with the operational safety of the aircraft, its passengers or cargo could result in immediate landing and prosecution by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

What about Insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
