Imagine gliding along Brighton’s stunning coastline, taking in the iconic sights from the water, with the famous chalk cliffs towering beside you. This Kayaking Experience offers a truly unique way to see Brighton, giving adventurers a fresh perspective on this popular seaside City. No previous kayaking experience is needed— simply bring a sense of adventure, and the expert instructors handle the rest, from fitting gear to teaching the essentials of paddling.
Starting from Brighton Marina Shop, where you can enjoy a coffee or tea and browse the shop before your journey. Secure storage is available for your belongings, ensuring you’re free to fully embrace the adventure ahead. The group will paddle eastward, exploring the quieter, hidden side of the coast. With guidance from the instructors, kayakers will navigate beneath the impressive chalk cliffs, taking in the beauty of the coastline at a relaxed pace. The route leads toward the peaceful areas of Ovingdean and Rottingdean, where participants can enjoy Brighton’s natural scenery away from the crowds. Instructors remain close by to offer tips on technique, from steering in a straight line to maintaining control of the kayak—skills that will make the experience even more enjoyable.
For those looking to challenge themselves, the session ends with an optional capsize drill. This fun, confidence- building activity is a chance for participants to test their limits on the water (and perhaps cool off with a splash!).
This kayaking experience is perfect for anyone interested in water activities and makes an unforgettable gift for adventurers, offering a memorable day out with new skills, scenic views, and a fresh perspective on Brighton’s beautiful coast.
Sea Conditions
If sea conditions are unfavourable, the Kayaking Experience will be relocated to the sheltered waters within Brighton Marina.

What to Bring
For all kayaking sessions, participants should come prepared with warm, waterproof clothing. A full kit list will be provided upon booking, but here’s a general guide:
The above is a general guide, and appropriate seasonal clothing is recommended. A dry bag is useful for keeping items safe on the water and for storing wet clothes afterward.
*Clothing should consist of several layers to help retain warmth. Avoid wearing denim, as it restricts movement, feels cold when wet, and takes a long time to dry. Footwear is required for kayaking—old trainers or plimsolls are ideal, while sandals are not suitable. Wetsuits aren’t necessary, as they are only effective when wet; however, if you prefer to wear a wetsuit, we still recommend bringing a warm top to wear over it.
