A highlight of the cruise is seeing Blackness Castle, famously known as the "ship that never sailed." This historic fortress, with its ship-like appearance, sits imposingly on the edge of the Firth of Forth. Built in the 15th century, Blackness Castle has served various roles, from a royal residence to a formidable military stronghold. Its rich history and dramatic location have made it a significant landmark in Scottish heritage.

Outlander fans will be thrilled to know that the Blackness Castle Cruise also offers a special connection to the popular TV series. Fans can immerse themselves in the magic of the show, experiencing firsthand the locations that brought the story to life on screen.

The cruise also offers a glimpse into literary history as it passes by Limekilns village, famously mentioned in Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel, Kidnapped. This quaint village is where the characters David Balfour and Alan Breck embarked on their adventurous journey across the Forth.

There is the option to book an afternoon tea or cream tea for an additional cost upon booking. This must be done at least 3 days before your booking.

Cruises are available to book between 1st August and 31st December 2024 only.

Validity

Your voucher is valid for 12 Months from the date of issue.

Please note you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date.

Who Can Go

Adult: 16+
Child: 5-15 yrs old
Under 5's go free.
Toilet facilities are available on board.
Hot and cold drinks and snacks can be purchased on board the boat.
The fleet is not specifically designed for disabled access, however many wheelchair users and those with limited mobility enjoy the sightseeing tours.
Please advise when booking if a wheelchair ramp is required.

What about Insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.

How it Works

All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.
