The Main Event

Treat someone to a day out in Brighton that brings the past to life, with entry to the iconic Royal Pavilion, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, and the newly reopened Preston Manor.

Start the day in royal style with a visit to the Royal Pavilion, once the extravagant seaside palace of King George IV. With its striking Indian-style exterior and lavish Chinese-inspired interiors, it’s a place that needs to be seen to be believed. Wander through its grand rooms, learn about the Pavilion’s colourful past, and discover how Queen Victoria eventually sold it to Brighton in 1850 for £50,000.

Just a short stroll away is the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, where fascinating exhibitions run throughout the year. Opening on 10 May 2025 is The In Crowd: Mod Fashion and Style 1958–1966, a vibrant look at the cool culture and fashion of the Mod movement. Perfect for style lovers and history buffs alike.

Finally, head to the edge of Preston Park to explore the newly reopened Preston Manor. Closed for five years, it now welcomes visitors with a brand-new experience that brings Edwardian life to centre stage. Once home to the Stanford family, this elegant stately home captures the upstairs-downstairs life of the early 1900s, complete with period décor, stories of the past, and a few ghostly goings-on.

Whether you’re buying for a history lover, architecture enthusiast or someone who simply enjoys a day out exploring something unique, this trio of Brighton gems makes for a thoughtful and memorable gift. It’s a chance to step back in time, soak up some local culture and experience the glamour, mystery and rich heritage Brighton has to offer.
