On this experience, you can choose to create a blacksmiths knife or a ram's head poker.

If you choose the blacksmiths knife option, you'll start your day with a crash course in blacksmithing basics, including fire management and safety. Then, under the watchful eye of your instructor, you’ll transform a piece of spring steel into a stunning blacksmith’s knife. Imagine the thrill of wielding a blade you’ve forged yourself, from the first heat to the final polish!

Prefer something a bit different? The ram’s head poker course offers a unique twist. Spend your day mastering the art of metal shaping as you craft a beautiful ram’s head fire poker. Begin with an introduction to the tools and techniques of blacksmithing, then dive into the fun of forging. You'll be guided through every step, from creating the ram’s horns to shaping its face and turning a simple bar of iron into a stunning piece that’s sure to spark conversation around the fireplace.

Important to Note

Tea & coffee are provided but it's advised you bring lunch with you, or a take out can be arranged from the nearby pub.

Knifemaking course - Available on selected Sundays starting at 8:30am

Ram's Head Poker course - Available on selected Saturdays starting at 8:30am

Please note: These courses run on different days. When booking in with the supplier, they will advise on available dates.

Validity

Your voucher is valid for 12 Months from the date of issue.

Please note you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date.

Who Can Go

Minimum age for Knifemaking course: 18 years old.
Minimum age for ram's head poker course: 16 years old.
Please wear clothing you don't mind getting dirty or marked. Cotton clothing is best (like jeans and cotton shirt), please don't wear acrylic or nylon clothing.
Participants will be instructed into the safe use of equipment before use, safety glasses must be worn at all times in the workshop area. It is important to understand that blacksmithing is a moderately hazardous activity and participants should expect to experience minor burns and blisters.
Students are responsible for their own safety, and to consider the safety of other students at all times in the workshop.

What about Insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.

All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.
