The Main Event

This guided prison tour is a fun and educational experience where you'll spend time learning what prison life was like for the former prisoners who served their sentences there.

Choose from Shrewsbury Prison in Shropshire or Shepton Mallet Prison in Somerset. Both of these historic prisons have a wealth of stories to tell.

You'll explore the history of the prison dating back over 400 years, and get to see the cells, healthcare rooms, executioner’s bedroom, and even the condemned prisoner’s cell.

This a great no-holds-barred guided tour led by an ex prison Officer who can shed a real light on what life was like for the prisoners, officers and visitors coming to the prison.

Once you've finished exploring, find some light relief in the prison Museum gift shop where you can find something to take home as well as the unique memories of your time behind bars. Finish the day in the prison cafe where you’ll find a lovely selection of light bites, cakes and drinks.

When

Shrewsbury Prison - Tours are available every day.
Monday to Friday: 2:30pm
Saturday & Sunday (& holidays): 10:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm

Shepton Mallet Prison - Tours are available weekends, bank holidays
Sat - Sun: 10:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm

Please allow around 1.5 hours for the tour.

Validity

Your voucher is valid for 12 Months from the date of issue.

Please note you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date.

Who Can Go

All ages are welcome.
Under 10 must have parental guidance / parental discretion.

What about Insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.

How it Works

All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.
