Starting at the peaceful waters of Barcombe Mills, participants will receive guidance from expert instructors on all the essentials, from steering and braking to paddling backward. These skills will be especially useful as you encounter a few surprises along the way—how’s your limbo technique?
The route is a nature lover’s dream, offering close encounters with herons, swans, Canadian geese, dragonflies, damselflies, and maybe even a trout swimming upstream. No binoculars are needed—just sit back and soak in the wildlife from the perfect vantage point. The journey also includes navigating narrow waterways and gliding over the remains of an old mill, adding historical charm to the adventure.
This kayaking experience is designed for all skill levels, with instructors tailoring the trip to ensure everyone enjoys the journey at their own pace. With beautiful views, a chance to learn new skills, and memories waiting to be made, it’s a day out you won’t forget!

Participants should arrive with warm, waterproof clothing suited to the day’s weather. A complete kit list will be provided upon booking, but here’s a general guide:
The above is a suggested list, and it’s recommended to dress appropriately for the season.
*Layered clothing is ideal for trapping warmth. Denim is discouraged as it restricts movement, feels cold when wet, and dries slowly. Footwear is required while kayaking—old trainers or plimsolls are ideal, while sandals are not recommended. Wetsuits are optional but not essential; if bringing one, layering a warm top over it is suggested.

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
