The Main Event

Embarking on a two-hour boat trip around Skomer Island is a journey that promises a captivating blend of natural wonders and marine beauty.

Departing from the old lifeboat station at St. Justinians on the Pembrokeshire coast, your adventure begins sailing across the waters of St Brides Bay to Skomer Island.

Skomer Island itself, during the months of April to August, is an avian paradise, teeming with life. Home to an impressive 42,000 puffins and a staggering 300,000 pairs of Manx shearwater, it's a sanctuary for these remarkable seabirds.

The air is filled with their calls, and the cliffs come alive with their comings and goings. But it's not just the puffins and shearwaters that make this journey special; the island hosts a diverse array of other seabirds, creating a symphony of sights and sounds that truly immerse you in the natural world.

As the boat navigates around the island, there's always the chance of spotting some of the coastlines more elusive inhabitants. Keep your eyes peeled for the playful harbour porpoises breaking the surface and the occasional appearance of a pod of common dolphins, gracefully slicing through the waters.

This boat trip offers an unforgettable opportunity to connect with nature and witness the beauty of Skomer Island's geology and coastline. It'll leave you with a deeper appreciation for the wonders of our natural world.

Important to Note

The boat trip will last around 2 hours.

Passengers must meet at the departure point St. Justinians (2 miles from St Davids, Pembrokeshire) at least 30 minutes before the boat departure time.

There is a short walk and a number of steps to the slipway, which could prove difficult for those with limited ability.

Boat trips are available daily from April to mid-July.

Departure times (subject to change):
11:30am and 3:15pm

Validity

Your voucher is valid for 12 Months from the date of issue.

Please note you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date.

Who Can Go

Suitable for ages 6+. However some restrictions may apply in more challenging weather conditions.
Please be of the wind chill factor, especially for little ones so make sure they are wrapped up.
Passengers must fill out a medical declaration form for certain medical conditions before their boat trip. These conditions include but are not limited to things like severe back pain, heart conditions, pregnancies, etc. Depending on the sea conditions, we will often sit these people at the back of the boat as there is less movement.
Is it compulsory for all passengers to wear lifejackets and passengers will be refused boarding if intoxicated in any form.
No dogs on this boat trip.

What about Insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
