This enchanting steam train experience offers a nostalgic escape through two stunning historic regions, the rolling Chiltern Hills and the dramatic landscapes of South Wales around Blaenavon in Torfaen. It is a perfect gift for anyone who loves heritage, scenic views and a touch of old world charm.

Departing from the quaint Chinnor Station or the heritage lines of Blaenavon, this captivating 60 minute round trip invites guests to settle into a bygone era of steam travel. As the engine powers forward with its rhythmic chug and clouds of steam, the journey unfolds through beautiful countryside, from green rolling fields and farmland to the rugged beauty of the Welsh valleys.

In the Chiltern Hills, expect sweeping views and tranquil scenery, while the South Wales route reveals a rich industrial heritage framed by breathtaking natural backdrops. Both journeys capture the magic of steam travel, where every whistle and puff of steam brings history vividly to life.

To make the experience even more special, a sparkling cream tea is included. Warm scones are served with rich clotted cream and strawberry jam, paired with a glass of sparkling wine or a freshly brewed tea or coffee, creating a perfect moment to sit back and soak in the surroundings.

Important to Note

Car parking is available at Chinnor Station and is free for train ticket holders. The car park is on the right hand side as you proceed along Kiln Avenue.

Ample free car and coach parking is available at Furnace Sidings. When travelling to this railway, please use postcode NP4 9AX.

Special dietary needs cannot be catered for.

Who Can Go

Accessibility at Chinnor Station: Level access suitable for wheelchairs is available via the old Station Approach road, and utilising a side-gate to the platform. Whilst parking is not generally allowed on this privately-owned road, passengers can be dropped off at the side-gate and then retrace your route and park up in the main station car park (and similarly return via the same route at the end of your visit). Access to the old Station Approach road is gained by turning right into the road on the Chinnor village side of the railway bridge and then along the front of the dental surgery. Please drive slowly, keeping a good lookout for children who often play in the area.
Furnace Sidings: Disabled parking spaces (x3), accessible path to the station building, level access to both the Fireman’s Shovel tearoom and Eric’s Emporium gift shop within the station.
Toilet facilities for disabled visitors are available at both stations.
No toilets with disabled access are available on the train and this is due to the age and historic construction of the coaches.
If you are in a wheelchair but you can step aboard and move to a seat (via the narrow connecting doors of our heritage vehicles), then your wheelchair can be left on the platform at Chinnor under the watchful eyes of the Volunteer station staff.
Wheelchair space is not available in the Train Restaurant.
The Station Cafe at Chinnor Station serves drinks and snacks. Most steam hauled trains offer a trolley service of tea, coffee and snacks during the journey.
Only Assistance / Guide dogs are allowed in the Train Restaurant.

What about Insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
