Led by an expert guide, this tour begins in the historic Grassmarket before making its way to Greyfriars Graveyard, one of the most famous cemeteries in Scotland. As well as being home to the heart-warming tale of Greyfriars Bobby, it’s also the final resting place of some of Edinburgh’s most notorious figures. Expect chilling tales of body snatchers, hauntings and the grim realities of life in the 1600s, including the terrifying story of the Covenanters Prison.

But the real descent into darkness begins beneath the streets, as the tour takes you into the infamous Niddry Street underground vaults. Featured on Most Haunted Live, these 17th-century vaults are said to be the most haunted place in Scotland. Once a warren of slums and hideouts for witches, criminals and the city’s poorest souls, they remain steeped in eerie atmosphere. You’ll even step into a mysterious stone circle once used by a witches’ coven, where many report strange sensations and unexplained happenings.

Who Can Go

Minimum age: 12 years old
All children aged up to 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
Photography is permitted on this tour.
Due to the historic nature of the sites, there are no lifts or ramps. To enter the vaults guests must be able to climb a 2 foot tall step followed by a winding staircase. Due to the walking pace and the terrain, the tour may not be suitable for those with any walking difficulties.
There are no toilets available during this tour.
Animals are not allowed on tours except for assistance animals such as guide dogs.

What about Insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
