The Main Event

Are you ready to explore York from the water? Embark on an adventure!

Hop into a self-drive motor boats, which can accommodate up to four friends, and cruise along the historic river that flows through York. No experience? No problem! they offer complete instructions and provide life jackets for all participants. Enjoy up to an hour of exploring the river and capturing some memorable, share-worthy photos.

Unfortunately, the Self-Drive Boats are not wheelchair accessible.

A returnable security bond of Min. £40 is required for all hires and must be paid by card or cash upon arrival at the landing. Failure to comply with T&Cs and the rules of the river could result in the loss of the security bond.

Opening & Closing Times

Self-Drive Boats are available to hire from 10:00. There isn't a set closing time - it is dependant on weather and light conditions and often much later during school holidays and busy periods.

Validity

Your voucher is valid for 12 Months from the date of issue.

Please note you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date.

Who Can Go

You must be at least 18 years old to rent a boat and you may be asked to provide identification, such as a passport or driving license.
Self-Drive boats hold a maximum of 5 passengers.
Lifejackets are mandatory for all passengers in the self drive boat and it is the responsibility of the passengers to ensure these lifejackets are worn throughout the hire.
Any passengers who are unable or refuse to wear a lifejacket will not be allowed onboard the self drive.
Passengers will be provided with a safety briefing and a nominated driver will be required to sign to confirm they have been briefed and that they understand and take responsibility for the safe navigation of the boat.
Please dress appropriately for an outdoor experience, including changeable weather.

What about Insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.

How it Works

All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.
